100 Years Ago (1896)

The Courier family was increased by the birth of a son on Wednesday morning, Nov. 4th.
 
Miss Gusta Tielke, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Tielke of this village, died of diphtheria at the home of her aunt at Louis Corners, Wis. on Thurs. of last week.
 
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Storey on Sat. last.
 
75 Years Ago (1921)
 
Neiman’s Corner – A baby boy was born Sat. Oct. 29, to Mr. and Mrs. J. Misiewicz.
 
Butlerville – Miss Hattie Kile and Mr. Hugo Kuehl were married on Wed. of last week.
 
A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. John G. Bogumill on Wed. Oct. 26th.
 
The Bogumill Real Estate Agency sold the NW ¼ NW ¼ Sec. 4-19-4W to Geo. Klewicki, Thorp.
 
The crew of men placing the electric light wires on the newly erected pole line between Thorp and Withee completed their work in this vicinity last week and are now working from the Owen end of the line.
 
Cards received here announced the marriage of Paul F. Dudansky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dudansky of this village, to Miss Matilda Krall on Mon. Oct 31st.  They will reside at Milwaukee.
 
Thomas Aucutt and Thomas Vanderweygan purchased C. L. Snyder’s interest in the pool and billiard hall which occupies (the) rear compartment of H. E. Howard’s Barber Shop.
 
50 Years Ago (1946)
 
We wish to announce to our patrons and friends that we have sold our Telephone Exchange in the Village of Thorp to Joe Keating, of Milwaukee, who took charge of the business the past week.  Mr. and Mrs. Lex Bernhagen
 
On Sat. morning, Oct. 26th at 10 o’clock in a wedding ceremony in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Miss Helen Zielinski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victory Zielinski, of the Town of Reseburg, became the bride of Mr. Raymond Zegler, son of Mrs. Anna Zegler of Chicago.
 
Ruby Newslets – Alvin Brenner purchased 80 acres of land from Walter Lotz just across the road from his parents.
 
Wolter’s Corners – Lynn Hodnett has old (sold) a farm to Chas. Tessmer.
 
Neiman’s Corner – Word was received here that a baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Jedrychowski, of Chicago, Tues. Oct. 29th.
 
Butler – A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hall, of Neillsville, recently.  Mrs. Hall was the former Edith Butler.
 
Word was received here of the birth of a son, 5 pounds and 5 ounces, Patrick Francis, to Mr. and Mrs. Francis Culbert, of Eau Claire at the Sacred Heart Hospital on Thurs. Oct. 31st.  Mrs. Culbert will be remembered here as Marion Micke.
 
A son, Jerome Robert, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nyckel, of Chicago, Nov. 1st.  Mrs. Nyckel will be remembered here as Miss Eugenia Staron.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Art Szymanski are the proud parents of a baby boy weighing seven pounds and ten oz. born at the Victory Hospital, Stanley.

Walter Grabon, 74, passed away Tues. Oct. 26th at Victory Hospital, Stanley.
 
Reseburg – Born to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pogodzinski, a baby girl, Oct. 25th.
 
On Wed. Oct. 20, Mrs. Elizabeth Ketterhagen was honored with a decorated cake at the regular meeting of the Council of Catholic Women at St. Bernard’s Church Hall.  Mrs. Ketterhagen celebrated her 97th birthday.
 
Thorp dumps Loyal 14-13 for East League 3rd sport in Football.

Martha Zuzelski, 81, former Thorp resident, died in Milwaukee, Mon. Nov. 3, 1986.
 
Benedick T. Bernard, 65, Thorp, died at his home, Fri. Oct. 31, 1986.
 
Mary Ellen Broeren, 66, Holcombe, formerly of Thorp, died Fri. Oct. 31, 1986 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
 
On Oct. 4, 1986, Donna Lee Walters, daughter of Bob and Jackie Walters of Thorp, and Douglas Lee Hustedt (Huetedt), son of Donald and Lucy Huetedt (Hustedt) of Nekoosa, became wedded in Holy Matrimony at St. Bernard’s Church.
 
Linda and Jim Pflueger of Star Prairie announce the birth of their daughter, Patricia Diane, on Wed. Oct 15th at Holy Family Hospital, New Richmond.
 
Reseburg – Mr. and Mrs. Dave Jensen are the proud parents of an 8 lb. 1 oz. baby boy, Jeremy David, born on Oct. 28.
 
Carl F. Jasmer, 86, Withee, died Fri. Oct. 24, 1986 at Memorial Nursing Home, Medford.
 
Genevieve F. Strzok, 85, Stanley, died Fri. Oct. 31, 1986 at home.
 
Cheryl Ann Bellino and James J. Lipinski, both of Garland, Texas exchanged marriage vows on Sat. Oct. 11, 1986 at St. Hedwig’s Chapel, Thorp.
