Eidsvold – John Warner has sold his house and lots in the village to J. O. Warner.
 
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Biddle of the Town of Reseburg on April 30th; a daughter (was born) to Mr. and Mrs. Chas Couey, of this village on May 1st.
 
75 Years Ago (1922)

 
Town Line – Bertha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Splinter and John, son of Mrs. Mary Korcher were united in marriage at St. Ann’s Church in Stanley, Tues. morning.
 
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Louis V. Kaczor on Sun. April 30th.
 
A 7 ˝ lb. son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Balicki of Chicago, Wed. April 26, 1922.
 
50 Years Ago (1947)
 
Miss Valeria Twarowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Twarowski, became the bride of Emil Kodl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kodl Sr., in a ceremony performed by Rev. Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church on April 26th.
 
In a beautiful wedding solemnized May 3rd in St. Casimer’s Catholic Church, Miss Frances Kielkucki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kielkucki, St. Paul, Minn., became the bride of Steven Jaks of Thorp.
 
Miss Dorothy Tessmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Tessmer, of Loyal and Donald Darge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Darge, of Thorp were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s parents at Loyal in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Sprengler of Dorchester on Sat., May 3rd.
 
Perry A. Graham and Walter M. Graham of Route 2, Thorp, have been accepted for enlistment for Ordinance Dept. for a period of four years.
 
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Alger, of Longwood, on Mon. May 5th.
 
Worden – Raymond Kenney purchased what is known as the Engelbretson farm recently.
 
Neiman’s Corner – A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Milewski on Fri. May 2nd at the Victory Hospital.  They will name her Joan Marie.
 
A very pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Hedwig’s Church Sat. morning, May 3, when Miss Dawn Swim, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Swim Sr., of the Town of Taft, became the bride of Mr. Joseph Adam Waichuls, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Waichuls of the Town of Withee.
 
Taft – Twin daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Stumpner, Mon. April 28th.
 
Born: to Mr. and Mrs. Felix Losiewicz, a baby boy on Mon. April 28th.
 
25 Years Ago (1972)
 
Jessie Bohn, 71, passed away Sun. April 30, 1972.
 
The chicken house on the Steve Czubakowski farm, five miles north and two and three-fourths miles east of Thorp was destroyed by fire late Fri. evening.
 
Mr. Donald Papierniak of Littleton, Colorado, called his parents here; the Louis Papierniak’s to inform them they were grandparents.  A little daughter, Dianna Lynn was born to them.
 
A baby boy weighing 7 lb. 13 oz. arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wickershiem of Neenah, Wis. on April 26.  The proud grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Schmidt of Thorp.
 
The Laird Youth Leadership Foundation has announced Jeanie Maslowski as one of the twelve recipients of the fifth annual Laird Youth Leadership Scholarship.  This award in the amount of $2,000 is based on achievement in the areas of leadership and scholarship.  Miss Maslowski will be attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls majoring in Speech and Journalism.
 
Michael Florkowski, 78, former cheesemaker, passed away on Sun. evening at his home in Unity. 
 
Phillip T. Slota, 60, of Medford passed away on Fri. April 28th, at Memorial Hospital, Medford.
 
Harry August Witt, 68, resident of Stanley, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, on Wed. April 26.
 
Thorvald Ammentorp, 76, died Thurs. at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
 
10 Years Ago (1987)
 
Ray Gengler, 72, a former Thorp resident of Lakeland, Florida, died Tues. afternoon, May 5, 1987.
 
Henke Construction of Thorp has been awarded the general construction contract for remodeling of the Middle School and an addition onto the Boyd School for the Stanley-Boyd School Dist.
 
Gigi Marie, daughter of Leonard and Joanne Zukowski of Deerfield, IL became the bride of Scott Solder, Sat. May 2, 1987 at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Wheeling, IL.
 
Lauraine Roen, 88, died Sun. April 26, 1987 in Rockford, IL.
 
Stanley Warminski, Sr., 87, former Town of Worden
