Peter Glish and Miss Mary Jasinski and Anton Tendzagolski and Miss Sophia Glish were married at the Independent Polish Church by Rev. Zalecki of Chicago on Mon. last.
 
Miss Tony Banderob, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Banderob and Mr. Michael Kronberg were married at the bride’s parents in the Town of Worden yesterday by Court Commissioner Geo. Burke.
 
Miss Nellie Gorman and Mr. Albert Albert were united in marriage yesterday at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Gorman, in the Town of Worden. Rev. Mucklenkamp, pastor of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, performed the ceremony.

Wild Cherry – Mike Holewinski, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Holewinski, died at his home here on Thurs. Jan. 4th.
 
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dave Weinberger on Mon. Jan. 8th.
 
Following are the officers and directors elected at the annual meeting of stockholders of the Peoples State Bank, on Tues. of last week: W. R. McCutcheon, President; Geo. Zillmann, vice-president; R. G. Lawrence, Cashier; Geo. H. Plucinski, Ass’t Cashier; Directors: W. R. McCutcheon, Geo. Zillmann, M. Wiltgen, H. F. Hudson, S. M. Burns.

Mrs. Marie Brandt, 88, passed away at the home of her son, Bart Brandt in the Town of Worden, on Sun. Jan. 4, 1948.
 
Mrs. Catherine Szpara, 51, of the Town of Thorp, passed away at the Chippewa Falls Hospital of an infection on Fri. Jan. 2, 1948.
 
Mrs. Mary Greich, 79, formerly of Thorp where she resided for many years, passed away at her home in Milwaukee, on Sun. Dec. 28, 1948.
 
Miss Anna Drangines, 52, daughter of Julian Drangines, of Withee, passed away at Owen on Tues. Dec. 30, 1947, of heart disease.
 
Gust Anderson, 77, a resident of this community and Eidsvold since the year 1900, passed away at the Chippewa Falls Hospital of heart trouble on Wed. Dec. 31, 1947.
 
Funeral services were conducted at St. Hedwig’s Church, Sat. morning, Dec. 27, for Mrs. Mary Wolowik, 63, who passed away at her home on Dec. 24, 1947.
 
Born, a baby girl, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baldeshwiler, at the Stanley Hospital Sun. Dec. 28, 1947.
 
Neiman’s Corner – A daughter was born New Year’s Eve to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lukasiewicz at the Victory Hospital at Stanley; -- A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Swiontek on Sat. morning at the Victory Hospital.

At a regular meeting of the Thorp Lions Club held at Club 73 Thurs. evening, members were informed the fund for a lighted fountain at Morgan Plaza has reached close to the $2,000 mark.
 
Mrs. Katherine Sliva, 81, resident of Route 2, Thorp Town of Thorp died at Victory Memorial Hospital, Mon.
 
George B. Lane, 69, died Mon. at his home in Stanley.
 
Mrs. Helen Zwanenburg, 88, passed away Jan. 1st at the County Hospital in Owen.
 
William Vollrath, 38, of Willard, died Sat. at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
 
Rose Szymoniak, 58, died at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire on Dec. 22, 1972 of a cerebral hemorrhage.
 
Margaret Wellner, 87, Boyd died at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls.
 
Lublin – A baby was baptized Sun. at St. Stanislaus Church by Father Paul.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lew Jr. of Hannibal.  They named the baby David John.
 
10 Years Ago (1988)

 
Erv Klick is the new second ward alderman in the City of Thorp, and Jim Albert the new Chief of Police.  The Thorp City Council made the appointments at the regular monthly meeting Mon. Jan. 11.
 
Valeria Ogurek, 84, Thorp, died at Thorp Care Center, Tues. Jan. 5, 1988.
 
A rural Gilman woman was killed Fri. morning, Jan. 8 in a farm accident at her home in the Taylor County Town of Pershing.  According to Taylor County authorities, Emily Fay Steen, 50, was out in the field with a farm tractor and manure spreader when she got caught in the power shaft of the spreader.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Rudolph (Rudy) Lendosky, 70, of West Bend, formerly of Thorp, passed away Tues. Jan. 5, 1988 at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital, West Bend.
 
Services were held Mon. Jan. 11, 1988 at Neillsville United Church of Christ for Marian E. Arndt, 73, Neillsville, who died Fri. Jan. 8, 1988 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
 
Harriet Wagner, 79, Stanley, died Sat. Jan. 9, 1988 at Sacred heart Hospital Eau Claire.
 
Anton Bernard Czech, 56, resident of the Town of Ford, Gilman, died Mon., Jan. 11, 1988 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, of a lingering illness.
 
It may be cold outside, but on the basketball court, it’s been hot lately, when the Thorp High Girls take the floor.  The Cardinals have won four straight, and have looked impressive doing it.
 
Pamela Jane Decker, Owen, and Kenneth Pau Frankewicz, Withee, exchanged marriage vows on Sat. Dec. 26, 1987 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen.
 
Tom and Carol Frankewicz, Withee, are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Kelly Ann on Mon. Jan. 4, 1988 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
 
Dr. and Mrs. Bernie D. Slota are happy to announce the birth of their son, John Moore Slota, named after his maternal grandfather, on Jan. 2, 1988 in Denver, CO.
