Stanley Sunbeams – A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Crane, on Mon. last; and a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Potter, on Tues.
 
About twenty of the sixty-seven delegates to the Republican convention were in favor of LaFollette’s nomination for governor.
 
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Tiedeman on Thurs. last.
 
Henry Lambert has sold his farm in the Town of Reseburg to Ignatz Grobeling. Consideration $1,000
 
Married at Withee, Wis. on April 3, 1898 was Mr. Daniel Tufts and Miss Harriet A. Meek.
 
Max Weber sold his eighty acres tract of land lying three miles south of the village, last week to Frank Buchinger of Neenah.  Consideration $12 per acre
 
75 Years Ago (1923)

 
Neiman’s Corner – Frank Neiman and wife purchased the property from St. Kujawski in the village and will move there soon.
 
Eidsvold – a baby boy arrived at the home of Anton Fitzel Fri.
 
A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Munzel, on Tues. Aug. 7th.
 
Magnus Hanson, who recently finished a course in Chemical engineering at the University of Wisconsin, spent several days with his parents here.  He left for South Bend, Ind. on Mon. where he will be employed.
 
C. J. Griesch returned from the Minnesota State University on Sun. last where he completed a six weeks high school teacher’s course.
 
S. G. Chmielewski has just completed the erection of an open air dancing pavilion, 40 x 60 feet in size, located on the county line 5 miles north of Thorp.
 
50 Years Ago (1948)
 
In a double-ring ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Stanley, on Sat. July 24th, when Miss Adeline Pacholski, daughter of Mr. John Pacholski, of Thorp and Chester Wisz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Wisz, of Thorp, repeated their marriage vows.
 
Alex Jarocki, 81, a resident of this community for many years, passed away at his home in the City on July 29th.
 
Anton Stroinski, 86, died at his home in the City on Sun. Aug. 1st.
 
Reburial services for Pfc. Carl Lund, Jr. who was killed July 6, 1945 on Luzon, P. I. were held Wed. at Our Savior’s Church, Stanley.
 
Butler – Word was received on Sun. of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Lester Reineke at the hospital in Eau Claire.
 
Twins, a girl and a boy, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Papierniak Jr., of Arlington, VA on the 31st of July.
 
Mr. and Mrs. James McNamara of Chicago are the proud parents, of a baby girl, Margaret Ann, born on July 24, 1948.
 
Roger Creek – The marriage of Miss Sylverne Peet and Garnet Smith took place Tues. morning at the Church of God.
 
Word was received here that a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leon Neiman, Sun. Aug. 1st in Chicago.
 
25 years Ago (1973)

 
A new son, David Matthew, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Adam J. Sokra of Greenwood on Aug. 10.
 
Twin boys were born to Mr. and Mrs. John Reynolds (Jane Conway) at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee, weighing in at 7.2 and 7.5 pounds on Aug. 11th.
 
A son Roy Michael was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Petranovich, on Mon. Aug. 6th.
 
Miss Annette Blasczyk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Blasczyk, became the bride of Kenny Polden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Polden, Eau Claire at St. Mary’s Czestochowa, Stanley July 7th.
 
Funeral services were conducted Wed. morning at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, for George Severin “Sef” kern, 83, Town of Taft resident who died Sun. morning at his home.
 
David A. Schauer, a 1963 graduate of Thorp High School and a 1967 graduate of Wisconsin State University – Eau Claire, has recently been commissioned 1st Lieutenant, United States Army Reserve.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Revoy are the parents of a baby girl, born Tues. Aug. 14th at the Victory Memorial Hospital.
 
Junction – Longtime area resident and member of St. Mary’s Parish, Mrs. Katherine Bartkowiak was laid to rest beside her husband Michael in the parish cemetery Thurs.
 
Wenzel M. Zais, 40, Eau Claire died Sun. afternoon at Sacred Heart Hospital.
 
Roger Creek – Mr. and Mrs. Dale Anderson are proud grandparents. A son was born Aug. 7th to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Forsman of St. Paul.  He was named Karl Allan.

Erwin Sniegowski, 63, Thorp, died Thurs. July 28, 1988 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
 
Ellen M. Lee, 74, Thorp, died Tues. July 26, 1988 at Sacred Hert Hospital, Eau Claire.
 
Thomas Polnaszek, 91, Thorp died at the Thorp Care Center, Sun. July 31, 1988.
 
Helen Romag, 76, Thorp, died Tues. July 26, 1988 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
 
Greta May, daughter of Scott and Brenda Laymen of Chippewa Falls was baptized Sun. July 31, 1988 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls.
 
Deanna Kerzie and Jac Fleming were married June 25, 1988 at the United Methodist Church in Gilbert, MN.
 
Becky Lynn Westaby and Todd Allen Chwala were married Sat., June 18, 1988 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley.
 
Sharon Krzyzanowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Krzyzanowski of Thorp, is among the students honored by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for attaining high academic grade points during the spring semester.
 
William Verkuilen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Verkuilen of Thorp, is among nearly 70 incoming freshmen at Marquette University accepted into Marquette’s Honors Program.
 
Angelina Francesca Barth, 60, Boyd, died July 30, 1988 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.
