Way Back When

 The Thorp Courier  --   January 16, 2008

picture

All of these boys and girls are posed outside of the church in their communion attire. Do you recognize any of these children or who the pastor is?  What year was this picture taken?  Do you remember any other details about this day and/or about the communion?  Please let us know what you may recall. [see the corrected caption in the January 23rd issue.]

Last Week's Photo:

In response to last week’s Way Back When picture, John and Ann Stroinski shared with us that it was a D8 CAT in the photo.  It might still be parked in the Reseburg Town Hall shed. Two drivers they know of that operated the CAT were Matt Grajkowski and Matt Kopacz.

Gerald Tomczak also called in and described what he recalled.  He said this photo might have been taken in the early 1950’s, and that he thinks it is a D7 CAT, possibly a 1930’s or 1940’s model. Gerald said it still exists in Reseburg, and that the drivers could have been Ben Dallman and Leroy Metcalf.

Correction:

Correction for Way Back When’s wedding photo in the January 2, 2008 issue: Elmer and Ada Vetterkind had a total of ten children: Leonard, Glen, Vernon, Carol Vetterkind, Jane Elwood, Jean Larson, Lila Gwidt, Eleanor Casalez, and two children who died in infancy.

For more information on this week's photo, check next week's column.
