Way Back When

 The Thorp Courier  --   May 14, 2008

Do you recognize this decorated soldier featured in this week’s Way Back When?  What year might this photo have been taken?  What branch of the military did he serve in, and where might he have been stationed?  If you know these details, or would like to share more information about this soldier, please give us a call.

The two wedding couples pictured in last week’s photo have been identified as Ruth and Edwin Burzynski (front row, left) and Ann and Joe Grabowski (front row, right); the brides are sisters.  Let us know if you can identify anyone else pictured in the wedding party, others you may know who were in attendance at the wedding, or any other details you would like to share.

In regard to the photo of the four WWI soldiers in April 30th’s issue, Jenny Clerf shared some additional details about who the soldier’s wives were.  She described that Wilfred Vanderhyden married Deanna Moe.  She had passed away, and he was later remarried to Margaret Micke.  Harry Schmitt’s wife’s last name was Kat, and she was from Cadott.  Harry Vanderhyden was single, and Frank LaFlex’s wife was Adelaine Antones from Minnesota.
