Infant Daughter Gardner

1904

The January 5, 1905 issue of the Republican and Press indicates the following as part of the York Center column:

Mr. and Mrs. George Gardner mourn the death of their baby girl.

In addition, the obituary for George Gardner in the June 20, 1935 issue of the The Loyal Tribune includes the following sentence:

To this union were born three children, Floyd Gardner of the Town of Beaver, Vera, now Mrs. Fred Heiking, Town of Eaton, and also one child who died in infancy.

Early records indicate that plot 10 in the F Block of York Center Cemetery was owned by George Gardner.  Therefore,  it is very probably that George Gardner's infant daughter is buried in that plot.  George Gardner was a son of Wolfurd and Elizabeth Gardner, early settlers of York Township.  Mrs. George Gardner was the former Linda Johnson, the daughter of Enoch and Clara (nee Whitcomb), who were also York Township homesteaders.
