Horace Vandeberg

May 22, 1889 - September 18, 1953

wpeB.gif (5279 bytes)Horace Vandeberg was a son of John and Lillian (nee Lawrence) Vandeberg.  John Vandeberg was an early settler of York Township.  Lillian Vandeberg was a daughter of Horace A. Lawrence, an early York Township pioneer and Civil War veteran, and his first wife, the former Lorinda Windsor (a daughter of Anson Windsor, another York pioneer).  Horace Lawrence was a son of Jesse and Almeda (nee Benedict) Lawrence, who also came to York Township in the 1870s.  Three of Horaces’ siblings:  Alvin Vandeberg, Manley Vandeberg and Ida Voight are interred in the York Center Cemetery.  Horace Vandeberg married the former Fern Alton, a daughter of John and Viola Alton who came to York Township in the early 1900s.  Horace and Fern Vandeberg’s children include Gale Vandeberg, author of “Beyond the Horizon” and Russell Vandeberg.
