Lawrence, an early York Township pioneer and Civil War veteran, and his first wife, the former Lorinda Windsor (a daughter of Anson Windsor, another York pioneer).  Horace Lawrence was a son of Jesse and Almeda (nee Benedict) Lawrence, who also came to York Township in the 1870s.  John was a brother to Abram Vandeberg, who married Lillianís half-sister, the former Lois Lawrence.  Four of John and Lillian Vandebergís children are also buried in York Center Cemetery:  Alvin Vandeberg, Manley Vandeberg, Horace Vandeberg, and Ida Voight.
