Lois Lawrence

March 28, 1879 - August 29, 1932

Lois (nee Lawrence) Vandeberg was a daughter of Horace A. and Edna (nee Smithers) Lawrence, who were pioneers of York Township.  Horace A. Lawrence was a son of Jesse and Almeda (nee Benedict) Lawrence, who were also York pioneers.  Edna Lawrence was a daughter of William and Lois (nee Knight) Smithers, who came to York Township in the 1880s.  Lois was a sibling to other people buried in the York Center Cemetery, including:  Orin Lawrence, Roy Lawrence, Floy Huntley, Earl Lawrence, Olive Campbell, and Horace H. Lawrence.  In addition, she was a half-sibling to Ida Turner, Burton Lawrence, Lillian Vandeberg, and Melvin Lawrence, who are also buried in York Center Cemetery. Another half-sibling of Lois' was George Lawrence, who is interred at Tacoma, Washington.  Lois Lawrence married Abram Vandeberg, an early settler of York Township.  He was a brother to John Vandeberg who married Lois’ half-sister, Lillian. Several of Lois and Abram Vandeberg’s children are also buried in York Center Cemetery:  Irvin, Lawrence and Carrie Vandeberg.
