Adelia W. Kottke

Adelia W. Kottke, 92, of Merrill, was called home by her Savior on the evening of Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at her home under the care of her family.

Born June 7, 1914, in the town of Corning, Adelia was the daughter of the late Herman and Anna Krueger Kleinschmidt. She married Walter Kottke on Sept. 24, 1931, at St. John's Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2001.

Adelia and Walter had farmed in the town of Hamburg. She was an example to her family to the end. She enjoyed baking for her family, playing Rook, and loved to fish. Adelia was the matriarch. Everyone in the family looked to her for their answers. Most importantly, she taught them how to be a family. Her family will continue to lead by her example in life, God first, and family second. Adelia's family would like to thank the "loving hearts" from Comfort Care and Hospice for their tender care.

Surviving are her sons LaVern (Phyllis), Athens; Wallace (Judy), Merrill; and Wayne (Evelyn), Athens; daughters Phyllis (Gilbert) Krause and Carol (Philip) Krause, both of Merrill; Betty Kottke and JoAnne (Roger) Ruehs, both of Wauwatosa; Marlene (Don Johnson) Kottke, Merrill; and Kathy Kottke, Wauwatosa; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Vernette Fabiszewski, Merrill; son-in-law Delmar Zocher, Merrill; and daughters-in-law Marian Kottke, Athens; and Virginia Kottke, Wausau. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; daughter Marjorie Zocher; sons Lloyd and Donald; sisters Esther Raasch, Ila Schmidt, Viola Lehrbaummer and Helen Kleinschmidt; brothers Ben and Kurt Kleinschmidt; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 14, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. Rev. Joel Danner officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family. Memorials may be given to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the town of Hamburg.
