Hilda L. Dengel, 93, of Merrill, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born in Merrill on July 11, 1913, Hilda was the daughter of the late Frank and Ernistine Sukow Kudick. She married Arvin Dengel on July 22, 1939, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1987.

Hilda worked for many years at Quality Print in Merrill. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. Hilda enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening, baking-especially her famous angel food cakes-and being with her family. She touched the lives of many people with her loving and caring smile.

Survivors include her daughters Grace (Dan) Frick, Merrill; and Linda (Ron) Behrens, Wausau; grandchildren Brenda (Tim) Zimmerman, Medford; Dean (Deb) Frick, Athens; Danielle (Marcus) Haug, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; Melissa Behrens, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Matthew Behrens, Wausau; great-grandchildren Bryce and Sydney Zimmerman; Emily and Andrew Frick; and Monica, Hannah and Samuel Haug; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arvin, daughter Rita, five sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm and Rev. Brian Stolarczyk officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
