Roman F. LaBarge

Roman F. LaBarge, 76, of Cty D. Rib Lake, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Golden Living Center, Rib Lake.

Roman was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Mosinee, son of the late Gilbert and Antoinette Maciezeski LaBarge. He married Charlotte Porath-Jaeger on Aug. 10, 1974, spending 32 years together; two souls as one.

Roman was proud to be a descendant of the Lac du Flambeau Native American Tribe. He was a retiree from Mosinee Paper Mill. He also had been a manager of Villa East Apartments in Merrill and had worked for the village of Rib lake. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps Special Forces and was awarded the National Defense Ribbon. Prior to his death, Roman was very active in many organizations, such as the D.A.V., American Legion, V.F.W., Atomic Veterans, Moose Lodge, Merrill Eagles Club, Rib Lake Lions organization, member of the American Security Council, Wisconsin Youth Drug and Alcohol Volunteer Group, and a state licensed foster parent. He enjoyed music, dancing, fishing and hunting. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte; son Perry (Bobbi Jo), Merrill; daughter Vicki Kerr, Alaska; stepson Larry Wayne (Ginny) Jaeger, Wausau; and grandchildren Craig, Jafia, Schawntae, Kirkland, Deszerae, George, Alaina, Aaron (Rochelle) and Kimberly (Travis). He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann Mottioli and brother Leander.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, at Ascension Episcopal Church, Merrill. Rev. Kristina Henning will officiate. The Dallman-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Rib Lake and Medford are serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Diabetic Foundation of Wisconsin and the Children's School Fund, Lac du Flambeau.
