Kenneth G. Kufahl

Kenneth G. Kufahl, 77, of Merrill, died Sunday, May 20. 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born in the town of Pine River on Aug. 17, 1929, Kenneth was the son of the late Paul and Elsie Jaeger Kufahl. He married Marilyn Duranceau in Pine Lake, Minn., on Oct. 24, 1960. She survives.

Ken graduated from Merrill Senior High School in 1947. After high school he was drafted into the Army where he served two years as an MP in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Ken then returned to Merrill where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, an over the road truck driver, and retired in 1996 from Pine Crest Nursing Home where he was on the maintenance crew and where he was Employee of the Year. He loved to watch sports on TV. Ken pitched for the Henrichs baseball team where he later managed the same team. After retirement he enjoyed the "Popcorn Club" where he met with his retired friends. He enjoyed playing cards. Ken also enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and especially his great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn; daughter Jeri (James) Raddatz, Merrill; sons Scott and Todd (Cathy), both of Merrill; grandchildren Jamie (Tom) Koehler; Jennifer (Daniel) Rennie; Alyssa, Jourdan and Brendan Kufahl; Dolan (Heather) Johnson; and Tory Johnson; and great-grandchildren Wyatt and Lydia Koehler; Kylie and Kaydee Rennie; and Mackenzie and

Alexis Johnson. Also surviving are sisters Lorraine Kraft and Elvera Detert and brother Milno, all of Merrill. He was preceded in death by brothers Vernon and Melvin.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 23, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Robert Smallman officiated. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Town of Pine River. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given.
