Edwin W. Hass

Edwin W. Hass, 99, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, formerly of the town of Corning, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Edwin was born April 4, 1908, in the town of Scott, son of the late Carl and Emilie Degner Hass. He married Violet Krueger on Jan. 2, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Corning. She preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 1992.

Edwin was a self-employed dairy farmer, electrician, carpenter and logger. He was also a school bus driver. Edwin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Corning, where he was involved in the Men's Club and the Church Dartball League. Edwin enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing baseball. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed berry picking. Edwin was a former assessor for the town of Corning.

Survivors include his sons Eugene (LaVila) Krueger and Mayward Krueger, both of Merrill; and David (Nita) Hass, Wausau; grandchildren Randy (Lisa) Krueger, Debra (Emil) Verbist, Cindy (Brian) Lezotte, Steve (Karen) Krueger, Terry (Crystal) Krueger, Connie (Kevin) Eckert, Kim Kaminski, Kevin Krueger, Keith Hass and Rachael Hass; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Gerald Krueger; daughters-in-law Lydia Krueger and Janet Krueger; grandson Timothy Hass; great-grandson Jacob Lezotte; and several siblings.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Corning. Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, town of Corning. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again on Thursday after 10 a.m. at the church.
