Leila A. Wegner

Leila A. Wegner, 90, of Merrill, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born Sept. 19, 1916, in the town of Corning, Leila was the daughter of the late Robert and Ella Schmidt Wendt. She married Eldor Wegner on June 29, 1940, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1993.

Leila had farmed with her husband in the town of Scott. She had also worked at Hanson Glove and Fox Point in Merrill. Leila was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. She enjoyed card playing, gardening, camping, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons James (Nancy), Dick (Carol), John (Carol) and David (Lynn), all of Merrill; grandchildren Dan (Natalie) Wegner, Cathy (Tim) Berndt, Jenny July, Amy Sallet, Adam (Stephanie Roets) Wegner, Laurie (Jason) Humphrey, Julie (Eric) Kasper, Andrew Wegner, Timothy Wegner, Amber (Brad) Borchardt and Elizabeth Wegner; and great-grandchildren Reba, Ethan, Shane, Abigail, Marshall, Madison, Cole, Brandon and Zachary. Also surviving are brothers Harold Wendt, Robert (Luella) Wendt and Kurth (Carol) Wendt, all of Merrill. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldor, sisters Mildred Woller and Hilda Kleinschmidt, and brothers Alvin, Arnold and Edward Wendt.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 19, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Brian Stolarczyk officiated. Burial was in Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott.
