Richard E. “Rick” Holt

Richard E. “Rick” Holt, 65, of Spencer, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Friday, July 20, 2007.

Richard Edward was born Dec. 12, 1941, at home in the township of Weston, Greenwood, son of the late Earl Edward and Bertha Putzel Holt. He attended country schools and schools in Loyal and Neillsville while growing up, and he assisted his mother while she taught at all of those schools. He married Dixie Dancker in 1962. They later divorced, and in 1986 he married Terrie Hildebrand-Fawley. Rick was employed in many different fields. He worked for American Motors in Kenosha, Kuhl Implement in Granton, Isabella Construction, and retired from the Clark County Highway Department in 1989 after 20 years of dedication. Throughout life, Rick enjoyed spending time with family and friends firstly. He also enjoyed racing, hunting, fishing, shooting trap, cooking, daily phone calls to family and friends, having a beer with the boys, intense debates, and much, much more.

He is survived by his cherished wife Terrie; children Stacy Holt and Heather Brown, both of Neillsville; and Aaron (Becky) Fawley; and grandchildren Kyle Brown and Hailey Fawley. He will also be greatly missed by his loyal canines Taffy, Jake and Teddy. Also surviving are his brother James (Cheryl), Black River Falls; and sister Elizabeth (Robert G.) Wilsman, Neillsville; along with many relatives in the area and beyond. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 24, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Pastor James Mohr officiated. Interment was in Neillsville City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Steve Boorson, Kyle Brown, Joe Hildebrand, Doug Polar, Patrick Polar and Tom Weyer.
