Olga S. Meyer

Olga S. Meyer, 100, of Merrill, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born in Frankenmuth, Mich., on Sept. 30, 1906, Olga was the daughter of the late Casper and Marie Schellhas. She married Edward Meyer on May 2, 1937, in Frankenmuth, Mich. He preceded her in death.

Olga had farmed with her husband in the own of Harding. She also worked at the bean cannery in the summers and the cranberry marsh in the fall. Olga helped on the election board, belonged to the Copper River Homemakers, and worked with the Trinity Lutheran Church quilters. She enjoyed knitting and at the age of 92, made over 100 quilts for children all over the world in one year.

Survivors include her sons Donald (Ann), Milwaukee; and Herman (Phyllis), Merrill; grandchildren Becky, Peter, Andy, Rachel, Robert, Jody, Teresa and Mike; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Albert and Herman Schellhas, both of Vassar, Mich.; and sister-in-law Erna Schellhas, Vassar, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, daughter Doris Scott, sisters Alma Lobdell and Nora Meyer, and brother Otto Schellhas.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 13, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott.
