Hilda I. Kniess

Hilda I. Kniess, 95, of Wausau, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Wausau Manor Nursing Home.

Hilda was born April 5, 1912, in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Frank and Augusta Imm Saeger. On May 27, 1933, she married Herman Kniess at Grace Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1997.

Hilda was a homemaker who farmed with her husband in the town of Hamburg until 1951, when she moved to Kenosha for a year. She returned to Hamburg and farmed for another 20 years and also worked for Fromm Brothers.

Survivors include her daughters Joyce Fehlhaber, Wausau; and Jelvadine (Gerald) Dalum, Texas; son Roger (Margie), Wausau; 15 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Sandi Kniess; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, son Duane, an infant daughter, three grandchildren, sisters Ella Schulz, Lydia Schulz, Nina Schmidt and Viola Zastrow, brother Walter Saeger, and son-in-law Lawrence Fehlhaber.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Bruce Lamont officiated. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, town of Hamburg. The Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau, served the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
