Jerome N. Hollenback

Jerome N. "Jerry" Hollenback, 78, of Appleton, died Friday morning, Aug. 24, 2007, following a long illness.

Jerry was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Appleton to the late Frank and Margaret Lanser Hollenback, where he was a resident all of his life.

Jerry graduated from Appleton High School and served with the U.S. Army following World War II. He had been employed by Appleton Coated Papers in Appleton for 36 years, retiring in 1990. Jerry enjoyed watching college sports, fishing, bus trips and was an avid Packer fan.

He is survived by his wife Genevieve A. Sczygelski Hollenback, to whom he was married for 49˝ years; children Matthew, Joseph (Tina), Penney Hollenback and Steven (Shauna), all of Appleton; and grandchildren Terry, Sienna and Crystal Hollenback and Debbie, Jeff and Laura Hendrickson. Also surviving are sisters Jean Falk, Betty (Bob) Hickenbotham, and Dolores (Joe) Schmidt, all of Appleton; and Marg Balza, Menasha; brothers-in-law LeRoy Heimmerman, Appleton; Lawrence (Vivian) Sczygelski, John (Helen) Sczygelski and Anthony (Corrine) Sczygelski, all of Merrill; sisters-in-law Esther (Jim) Ament, Menasha; and Regina (Norman) Roets, Rosemary (Robert) Eckhardt, and Joyce Sczygelski, all of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Francis; sister Marie Heimmerman; and brothers-in-law Stanely "Red" Falk, Charles Sczygelski and John Heimmerman.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. A memorial fund is being established.
