John H. Severt

John "Jack" H. Severt, 83, of Merrill, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Born in the town of Pine River on June 18, 1924, John was the son of John and Ida Hartwig Severt. He married Helen Kulawinski on July 3, 1954, in Merrill. She survives.

John graduated from Merrill High School. He served in the U.S. Army for three years in a hospital in the Phillipines. John worked at Merrill Wire Products. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. John enjoyed taking a trip now and then to the casino. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife Helen, Merrill; daughters Patricia Severt, Middleton; Jacqueline (Kevin) Grossoehme, Milwaukee; and Karen Severt, Merrill; son David (Sharon), Hubbard, Ohio; grandchildren Michael and Jamie Grossoehme, Milwaukee; and sisters Dorothy Rahlf, Helen Jaeger and Gail Kulawinski, all of Merrill. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald.

Funeral services are 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. James Horath will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be given to St. Francis School or a charity of choice.
