Joan E. Schield

Joan E. Schield, 70, of Merrill, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at the home of her niece and nephew under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born in Merrill on Sept. 4, 1936, Joan was the daughter of the late Louis and Elma Reissman Toschner.

Joan graduated from Merrill High School in 1956. She was a homemaker and had taken care of her mother. Joan enjoyed walking in the woods, playing with the dog, playing her accordion, growing flowers and spending time with her family and friends at get-togethers.

Survivors include her brothers Alvin Toschner, Wausau; and Jack Toschner, South Carolina; and special niece and nephew Wayne and Lorna Pfaff of Merrill with whom she resided. She was preceded in death by brothers Harry, Rueben, Leonard, Norman and Gerald Toschner.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Robert Smallman will officiate. Memorials may be given to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
