Norman T. Allen

Norman Thomas Allen, Lac du Flambeau, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield on Friday, June 22, 2007, after a brief illness.

Norman was born in Cadott, to Thomas and Elva Witt Allen on Jan. 22, 1931. He was in the graduating class of 1949 from Cadott High School.

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Norman moved to Racine. In January 1956 he started working at Equifax, until his retirement in 1990. He married the former Esther Larson on Aug. 10, 1957, in Boyd. She preceded him in death on March 9, 1980. They made their home in Franksville and together they had two children, Barbara and Thomas.

On April 4, 1981, he married Marilyn Jean Saeger in Merrill. They both retired in 1990 and have split their retirement between Minocqua and were snowbirds in Mesa, Ariz. Norm was a member of Legion Post 494 in Caledonia, and the Lac du Flambeau Lions Club. He loved fishing, hiking, auctions, crossword puzzles, gardening and a good hand of sheephead.

Norman is survived by his wife Jean; daughter Barbara Ann (Charles) Ricchio and son Thomas Joseph (Kristen), both of Racine; and grandchildren Amanda and Charles Ricchio, and Paige and Brook Allen. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Goldie Saeger, Tomahawk; sisters Crystal Van Parys, South Bend, Ind.; and Doris (Allan) VandenHeuvel, Grand Rapids, Minn.; brother-in-law John (Peg) Sanford, Aikin, Minn.; sister-in-law Florence (Rodney), North Fort Meyers, Fla.; brother-in-law David (Judy) Saeger, Quincy, Ill.; nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Esther, grandson Adam Charles Ricchio, sisters June (Jim) Lairy, Carol (Al) Lorenz and Dawn Sanford, and brothers-in-law.

A memorial gathering was held at Peace Lutheran Church, Woodruff, on Saturday, June 30. Pastor Jonathan Cluppert officiated. The Bolger Funeral Home, Minocqua, served the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church in Woodruff.
