John A. Dennee

John A. Dennee, 91, of Merrill, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. Born in Rozellville on Nov. 18, 1915, he was the eighth of 12 children born to Michael and Anna Dennee.

As a young man, John moved to Chicago, Ill., where he met and married Augusta Gwodzik on Sept. 7, 1938. They had two daughters.

After serving in the Army, John worked for the city of Chicago until he retired to Merrill. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening, watching "Cubs" baseball and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Augusta on Aug. 27, 2005; his daughter Dianne Dennee on Oct. 16, 2005; six brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his daughter Janet (Richard) Slater, Woodstock, Ill.; grandchildren Jeff (Mary Fran) Graunke, Jill (Gary) Bunzel, Jonathan (Jarmila) Graunke, Jason (Amy) Graunke and Susan (Jeff) Stanley; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are sisters Adeline Masserilli and Jenny Maszk; brother Lawrence; son Robert (Roberta) Esp; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be this afternoon, Wednesday, July 11, 1 p.m., at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. James Horath will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. this morning to the time of services at the funeral home.
