Sister Emilia Emineth

Sister Emilia Emineth, 98, Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, died Friday, July 13, 2007, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and the loving staff at Bell Tower Residence. At the time of her death she was in the 74th year of her religious profession.

Sister Emilia was born Feb. 11, 1909, in Rosebud, N.D., to Frank and Emilia Schneider Emineth. She entered Holy Cross Convent in Merrill on Oct. 31, 1929, and took her First Profession on Sept. 15, 1933.

Sister Emilia served as a cook and dietary supervisor for 43 years and then in pastoral care for another 16 years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson, N.D. She received her certification as a dietary supervisor from Fontbonne College, St. Louis. She served as dietary supervisor for Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill from 1970-1977. Sister Emilia retired to Bell Tower Residence in Merrill in 1998.

She is survived by the Holy Cross community, brother Mike (Delores) F. Emineth, Vancouver, Wash.; sisters Veronica Heinz, Bismarck, N.D.; and Barbara Hohbein, Glen Carbon, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

A wake service was held Sunday evening, July 15, at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, July 16, at Holy Cross Chapel. Rev. Dan Crosby OFM officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huss Fund at Bell Tower Residence, 1400 O'Day St., Merrill.
