Nita Rostal

Nita "Neets" Rostal, 76, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, in Statesboro, Ga.

Nita was born March 26, 1931, in the town of Schley, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Carl and Olga Zoellner Nelson. She was a homemaker. Nita loved animals and enjoyed watercolor painting.

Surviving are sons Dr. David (Janice Grumbles) Rostal, Russell (Debbie) Rostal and Michael Rostal; grandchildren Joanne, Lindsey and David Rostal; and great-grandchildren Christian and Chandra Rostal. Also surviving are sister Carol (Dr. Wayne) Sukow; sister-in-law Judy Nelson; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and her four-legged children including her dog Trilby and cats Straddle and Stormy. She was preceded in death by sister Emily Nelson, brother Ron Nelson, and daughter-in-law Janice Rostal.

A funeral was held Friday evening, Oct. 19, at St. Paul's Church, Statesboro, Ga. Merrill funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Christ United Methodist Church. Rev. Carolyn Saunders officiated. Entombment was in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family with local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Statesboro-Bulloch County, PO Box 581, Statesboro, GA 30459.
