Norman R. "Butch" Jaeger, Merrill, formerly of the town of Pine River, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Calvary Lutheran Church, town of Pine River. Rev. Mary Zupansic will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery, town of Pine River. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and at the church of Friday beginning at 9 a.m.

Norman R. Jaeger

Norman R. 'Butch' Jaeger, 78, of 802 Chippewa St., Merrill, formerly of the town of Pine River, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Norman was born July 12, 1929, in the town of Pine River, son of the late Albert and Hulda Delf Jaeger. He married Lois Pfaff on Jan. 26, 1949, at the former St. Luke's Church in the town of Pine River. She survives.

Butch farmed in the town of Pine River for 20 years. He then worked for the Lincoln County Highway Department for 25 years. Butch was also a seasonal employee at Badger Evergreen Farms, Inc., Merrill. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, town of Pine River, where he served as church treasurer for 27 years. Butch's church life was very important to him. He also helped with the church cemetery. Butch enjoyed doing carpentry work and "puttering" around. He also enjoyed hunting, playing sheephead, listening to polkas and watching WWE. He loved his children, granddaughters and great-grandchildren dearly.

Survivors include his wife Lois Jaeger, Merrill; daughter Judith (Wayne) Kleinschmidt, Merrill; sons Randal (Sharon), Merrill; and Lyle, Savage, Minn.; granddaughters Sandra (Mike) Loucks, Julie (Corey) Maschke, Jennifer (Steve) Strand and Theresa Jaeger; and great-grandchildren Patrick, Eric, Jennisa, Andrew, Madison and Allie. Also surviving are sisters Lucille (Eddie) Pophal, Lydia (James) Goetsch and Caroline Krause, all of Merrill; and brothers Milfred (Dorothy), Merrill; and Dale (Ruth), Hazelhurst. He was preceded in death by grandson Eric Jaeger, an infant daughter, an infant son, an infant sister, and brothers-in-law Roger Voigt, Elroy Krause and Marvin Nass.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 2, at Calvary Lutheran Church, town of Pine River. Rev. Mary Zupansic officiated. Burial was in Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery, town of Pine River. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
