John J. Kelly Jr.

John Joseph Kelly Jr., 79, of Merrill, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.

John was born on April 16, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., to the late John and Teresa Ackerman Kelly. After high school, John served in the Navy. He later married Dolores Sibbert on Sept. 9, 1950.

John was a quality control engineer for Merrill Manufacturing for 30 years. He loved golf, was a devout Catholic and a sports enthusiast. He followed the Bears, Packers, Buccaneers, and again the Packers, as he moved. Most importantly, John loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores, Merrill; children Lynn Kelly (Don Genrich), Pike Lake; Bruce (MaryAnn) Kelly, West Bend; Jan (Michael) Perry, Merrill; Jim (Amy) Kelly, Green Bay; and Alan Kelly, Schofield; and grandchildren Shaun (Stacy) Kelly, Ryan Kelly, Brendan Kelly, Mollie Perry, Chris "Bubba" Perry, Mitchell Kelly and Bradley Kelly. Also surviving is sister Mary Kelly, Tinley Park, Ill. He was preceded in death by brother Larry.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 3, at Bell Tower Residence chapel, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family with arrangements.
