Verna E. Koehler

Verna E. Koehler, 93, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Verna was born Jan. 15, 1914, in the town of Corning, daughter of the late Paul and Flora Storm Klebenow. She married Marvin R. Koehler on Oct. 3, 1936, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2005.

Verna and Marvin dairy farmed in the town of Corning. Verna was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill, where she was involved in the Mission Guild. Verna was an honorary member of the Copper Dells Homemaker Club. She also sang for the Homemakers Chorus and was a former 4-H leader. Verna enjoyed making crafts.

Survivors include her daughter Kathryn (Richard) Vandre, Merrill; son Allen (Carol), Merrill; son-in-law Raymond Herdt, Merrill; grandchildren Scott Vandre, Karmin Bolder, Carrie Vandre, Craig Vandre, Stephen Vandre, Robert Koehler, Michael Koehler, Debra Mathis, Terri Haufe and Todd Herdt; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Betty Herdt; sister Marcella Borchardt, and brother Lawrence Klebnow.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. John Eldred and Pastor Missy Holdorf co-officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.taylorstinefuneralhome.com.
