Edna A. Hofmann

Edna Amelia Hofmann, 89, of Merrill, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Born in the town of Corning on Feb. 23, 1918, Edna was the daughter of the late August and Anna Bahlow. She married George Hofmann on Aug. 17, 1946, in the town of Corning. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1982.

Edna farmed with her husband in the town of Corning when they were first married. She later worked for the Weinbrenner Shoe Company for many years. She then did cleaning and ironing for various people in the Merrill area. Edna worked in the laundry department at Pine Crest Nursing Home from 1969 until retiring in 1978, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill and loved to read her Bible. Edna loved cooking, baking, sewing and playing bingo, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters Diann Hofmann, St. Paul, Minn.; and Lori (Jacob) Schneider, Merrill; grandchildren Gabrielle (Casey) Opper and Adam Schneider, both of Merrill; and sister Adell Borner, Shawano. She was preceded in death by her husband George and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 26, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Carolyn Saunders officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.
