Cecil M. Hill

Cecil Morris Hill, 90, of Merrill, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice and the Bell Tower staff.

Cecil was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Merrill to Harry and Mary Lohff Hill. He married Margaret Kollmar on June 17, 1944, in Merrill. She survives.

Cecil had worked at Anson-Gilkey Company and later as a janitor at Merrill Junior High School. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Usher's Club. Cecil was a loyal and active member of VFW Post #1638, Merrill, and the DAV. Cecil will be remembered by his family as a loving and kind man who enjoyed being a part of his family's activities and accomplishments.

Cecil is survived by his wife Margaret, Merrill; daughter Barbara (Gary) Cator, Merrill; sons Phil (Judy), Irma; and William (Cindy), Green Bay; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Myra Hill, Merrill; brother Douglas (Evelyn), Bellflower, Calif.; and sister-in-law Mary Lou Hill, Racine. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bill, John and Frank; and sister Helen.

Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 14, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Rev. Edward Powell officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill, with military rites conducted by VFW Post #1638, Merrill. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Bell Tower Residence.
