Marion L. DeMesy

Marion L. DeMesy, 93, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, formerly of the town of Summit, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing home, Merrill.

Marion was born May 9, 1914, in Clintonville, daughter of the late Elmer and Anna Krueger Solom. She married William J. DeMesy on Feb. 11, 1934, in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 2001.

Marion and her late husband William dairy farmed in the town of Summit. She cooked at a logging camp in the town of Parish prior to farming. Marion was also a school bus driver for the Antigo/Langlade County school district for over 40 years. She was a 4-H leader, and a member of the Worthwhile Women’s Club and Gleason Community Club. Marion enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include her daughters Joan (Clarence) Steger and Jean Thom, both of Gleason; Jackie (Dan) Wedler, Rockford, Ill.; Marilyn (George) Shook, Defiance, Ohio; and Kay (John) Ronis, Gleason; son Robert (Judith) Merrill; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by grandchildren Courtney and Jordan; and son-in-law Barney Thom.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Pastor Miss Holdorf officiated. Burial was in the Gleason Cemetery, town of Russell. Online condolences may be made at www.taylorstinefuneralhome.com
