Clarence R. Gruetzmacher

Clarence R. Gruetzmacher, 85, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at his home under the care of his family and hospice services.

Clarence was born Sept. 24, 1921, in the town of Pine River, son of the late Ervin and Anna Pfingsten Gruetzmacher. He married Arleen Pagel on May 18, 1946, in the town of Stettin, Marathon County. She survives.

Clarence, along with his wife, owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Pine River. In his spare time, Clarence enjoyed deer hunting, both locally and in Wyoming, and fishing.

Survivors besides his wife Arleen, Merrill, include son Gary (Elma), Merrill; grandchildren Tracy (Mike) Renn, Todd (Jessica) Gruetzmacher, Troy Gruetzmacher, Karen (Gerard) Blakeslee, Bryce Jirovec and Rory (Jennifer) Jirovec; great-grandchildren Alyssa, Alex, Jaxon, Connor, Christine, Brittany, Ava, and Eva; and step-great-grandson Abdell.

Also surviving are sisters, Ruth Hinz, Wausau; and Rosalie Sprafke, Pottsville, Ark.; and brother Elroy (Phyllis), Bentonville, Ark. He was preceded in death by daughter Sandy Jirovec in 1980; sisters, Caroline Gruetzmacher and Lorinda Hahn, and brother, Alvin.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 26, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Ted Gulhaugen officiated. Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Town of Pine River.

The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
