Wednesday, 8 Nov. 2006; Page 9 ---Graap, Charles “Loafer” L. (3 April 1932 – 5 Nov. 2006) Charles L. Graap Charles L. "Loafer" Graap, 74, of 111 N. Foster St., Merrill, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Charles was born April 3, 1932, in Merrill, son of the late Charles and Dorothy Mittag Graap Sr. Charles was a retired employee of Northern Specialty Company, Merrill. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and saw action on the front lines. Charles was a life member of the VFW, as well as a member of the American Legion, AMVETS and the Moose Lodge. His hobbies included fishing, watching Green Bay Packer football games, listening to the Sunday morning polka show on the radio, hunting, observing wildlife, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his companion of 25 years, Paula Stickler, Merrill; daughter Sandy (David) Sherfinski, Merrill; sons Kim, Tod and Jay, all of Merrill; grandchildren Jody (Tammy) Sherfinski, Amy Jo Graap, Ashley Graap, Heidi (Randy) Noland, Billie Jo (Scott Smith), Charles B. Graap and Thomas Graap; great-grandchildren Mitchel, Austin, Nicholas, Zoey and Dillon; and a great-grandson due to arrive any day who will be named Landon Charles. Also surviving are sisters Audrey Heuser and Eunice Schubert, both of Merrill; Virginia (Marvin) Mc Elhaney, Wausau; and Barbara Golisch, Merrill; brother Kenneth (Caroline), Merrill; and sister-in-law Kathy Graap, Merrill. He was preceded in death by sister Lucille Graap; brother Dennis "Boomer" Graap; and brothers-in-law Vernon Heuser, Kenwood Schubert and Kermit Golisch. Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 8, at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park with graveside military rites conducted by VFW Post 1638, Merrill. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
