Rose Marie Oestreich

Rose Marie Oestreich, 64, of Merrill, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at her home under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Born in Merrill on Dec. 7, 1941, Rose Marie was the daughter of the late Andrew and Lois Brown Oknewski. She married Eugene Oestreich on July 9, 1960, in Merrill. He survives.

Rose Marie graduated from Merrill High School in 1959. She had worked at Fox Point Glove Factory, Weinbrenner Shoe Company and the food service at Merrill Area Public Schools. Rose Marie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Merrill, and served as secretary for the Devil's Creek Stumpjumpers snowmobile club. Rose Marie enjoyed fishing in Canada, bowling, hunting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Surviving are her husband Eugene, Merrill; daughters Judy Oestreich, Richfield; Cheryl (John) Christianson, Brantwood; and Peggy Schroeder, Modale, Iowa; son Greg, Modale, Iowa; and grandchildren Heather, Michael, Andy, Dan, Ryan, Nicholas and Megan. Also surviving are sisters Margaret (Ron) Pardini, Havelock, N.C.; and Fran Hussong, Mosinee; and brothers Leon (Joy) Oknewski, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Peter (Diane) Oknewski and Tony Oknewski, both of Mosinee. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Victor, Joseph and Matthew Oknewski.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
