Ardell C. Baumann

Ardell C. Baumann, 81,of Merrill, died Saturday, Feb. 3,* 2006, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Born in Merrill on Nov. 3, 1925, Ardell was the son of the late Theodore and Selma Zimmerman Baumann. He married Georgie Moritz on Sept. 3, 1949, in Merrill. She survives.

Ardell joined the Army at age 17 and participated in the European invasion. He was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart along with other medals. Ardell was a life member of the Disabled Veterans. He was an avid walleye fisherman, loved deer hunting, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Ardell grew beautiful roses which he enjoyed giving away.

Survivors include his wife Georgie, Merrill; daughters Laurel Cooper and Amy (James) Kressel, both of Merrill; and Carrie Baumann, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; son Ted (Debbie), Irma; grandsons Jason and Adam Kressel, Nathan and Alex Baumann and Robert Bell; step-grandsons Josh and Jessie Cortright; brother Lylas (Phyllis), Merrill; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray "Curly," and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
