Vandre Essie Faye "Tess" Vandre, 86, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. Essie was born April 11, 1920, in Strong City, Okla, to the late Arthur and Mamie Lentz Welch. She married George Vandre on Nov. 18, 1944. They farmed in the town of Corning. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1975. Essie will be remembered for her love of singing with family and friends. Survivors include her children David (Bonnie Rosenthal), Almond; Wayne (Karen), Anchorage, Alaska; Juanita "Nita" (David) Hass, Wausau; Stuart (Sheryl), Merritt Island, Fla.; and Lavonna (Steve) Young and Faye (Ken) Wieloch, both of Merrill; grandchildren Keith and Rachel Hass, both of Wausau; Duane (Susan) Vandre and Crystal Lothe, both of Stevens Point; Sheila (Pat) Vandre-Flanagan, Simpsonville, Ky.; Christopher (Molly) Vandre, Spokane, Wash.; Julie (Scott) Duke, Atlanta, Ga.; Michelle Rizzo, Merritt Island, Fla.; Todd (Teresa) Vandre, Orlando, Fla.; Tara (Paul) Brazeau, Plainfield, Ind.; and Ross Wieloch, and Natalie, Angela and Vanessa Young, all of Merrill; and 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Esther (Harold) Wegner, Merrill; and Darlene Wolf, Hartford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Wegner and Caroline Vandre; brothers Dewey and Arthur Welch; grandchildren Tanya Young and Timothy Hass; and great-grandchild Dane Brazeau. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Corning. Rev. Joel Danner officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Colonial Manor and Wausau Kidney Center for their love and great care that they gave to our Mother and Grandmother. |
