Dolores L. Lee

Dolores L. Lee, 94, of 107 N. Thomas St., Merrill, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.

Dolores was born Nov. 18, 1912, in Merrill, daughter of the late Albert and Augusta Housman Damaske. She married Hugh E. Lee on Nov. 5, 1932, in Merrill He preceded her in death on March 6, 1986.

Dolores graduated from Merrill Senior High School, then attended the former Lincoln County Normal School for two years. She taught school for two years at the former "Axen School" in the Gleason area prior to her marriage. During her married life, Mrs. Lee was the bookkeeper for her husband's construction business. She was a seamstress, making clothes for several people throughout the area and was employed at Wausau Insurance Company for 15 years. She and her husband operated the "Camp Silver Trout Ponds" in the town of Summit, Langlade County, for 40 years, and Dolores continued to manage the business even after her husband's death. Currently her daughter and son-in-law operate the ponds. Her hobbies included making quilts at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Gleason, and she also operated a Braille machine from her home, producing children's religious books for an independent publishing company.

Survivors include her daughter Denise (Irvin) Rice, Merrill; granddaughter Tanya (Tony) Villano, St. Louis Park, Minn.; grandson Dana (Debbie) Rice, Merrill; and great-grandchildren Emily, Benjamin and Joseph Villano and Dominic and Destinee Rice.

She was preceded in death by sister Lila Kienbaum and brothers Bobby, Norbert, Carl and Al Damaske.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk officiated. Burial was in Luther Memorial Cemetery, town of Russell. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to Trinity Lutheran School, Merrill.
