Duane R. Frisch

Duane 'Duke' R. Frisch, 57, of Irma, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at St. Claire's Hospital, Weston.

Duke was born in Merrill on March 2, 1949, son of the late Roger and Dorothea Brack Frisch. He married Cynthia Beltz on May 25, 1974, in Merrill. She survives.

Duke graduated from Merrill High School in 1967. He had worked at the former Stokely U.S.A. Cannery in Merrill. Later Duke was employed at Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill and retired due to illness. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Irma. Duke was the sexton for the Chat cemetery in Irma. He enjoyed working in the woods and making maple syrup, woodworking, hunting, working in the garage and especially spending time with his family. Duke lost his battle with cancer after a very long and courageous fight. "He'll forever be our hero."

Survivors include his wife Cindy, Irma; daughters Sheila (John) Kautz, Watertown; Colleen (Tim) Beyer, Shiocton; and Katie Frisch, Irma; granddaughters Brittany and Megan; brother James (Cheryl), Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Kelly Leary of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, officiated.
