Mildred R. Scobie

Mildred Rose Scobie, 99, of Merrill, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Mildred was born May 30, 1907, in Antigo to the late John and Kittie Donahue McKenna. She married Frank Scobie on July 28, 1934, in Madison. He died on May 19, 1956.

Mildred had taught vocational rehabilitation at Milwaukee Vocational School and then in Wausau after 1969. She retired in 1972, and then worked in real estate where she was a member of the Wausau Realtors. Mildred was a past member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wausau, the Sweet Adelines and the Women's Knights of Columbus. She was currently a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. Mildred enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, singing, watching all sports and the Olympics.

Survivors include son Michael, Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren David Scobie, Los Angeles, Calif., and Debbie Scobie, Tacoma, Wash.; and four great grandchildren. Mildred is further survived by sister Bette McKenna, Antigo.

She was preceded n death by her parents, her husband, sisters Mary Portman, Katherine McNally and Marjories Nowotny and brother Gene McKenna.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 5, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Burial is in Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee. The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
