Wilbert R. Krueger

Wilbert R. Krueger, 88, Merrill, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice at Pine Crest Nursing Home.

Wilbert was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Merrill, the son of the late Edwin and Laura (Scwartz) Krueger.

He married Mildred Pagel on Feb. 16, 1946, in the town of Hamburg. She survives.

Wilbert had worked at Northern Door for 25 years. He belonged to St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. Wilbert enjoyed being on his riding lawn mower complete with a slow moving sign. He also enjoyed "puttering around" and watching the birds.

Survivors include his wife Millie Krueger, Merrill; daughters Sharon (Randall) Welch, Merrill, and Shirley Pankow, Athens; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one step-sister, Loretta (Leroy) Seidler, Merrill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 11, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart presided. Burial took place in the Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine.
