Herbert A. Schulz

Herbert A. Schulz, 92, of Vassar, Mich, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at the home of his daughter in Vassar.

Born in the town of Scott on Sept. 17, 1913, Herbert was the son of the late Paul and Minna Paqui Schulz. He married Agnes Plautz on June 17, 1939. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2006.

Herb had farmed in the Town of Pine River and was a farm machinery mechanic. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine River. Herb enjoyed traveling to see his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters Marlene (Dean) Yates, Seward, Neb.; and Dianne (Kevin) Stresman, Vassar, Mich.; sons Herb (Jane) Jr., Weston; David (Jeanette), Merrill; Gary (Gail), Connor, Mont.; and Don (Loretta), Rio Rancho, N.M.; grandchildren Susie, Brian, Jim, Mark, Dawn, Courtney, Josh, Andrew, John, Patrick, Katie and Kassie; step-grandchildren Pam, Mike and Rodney; nine great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild. Also surviving is his brother Paul (Gertrude), Merrill. He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes; sisters Cecil Mahn, Hertha Burbey and Helen Schulz, and brother Herman.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Town of Pine River. Deacon Darrell Gieschen officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
