Loretta A. Harkner

Loretta A. Harkner, 89, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Loretta was born May 11, 1917, in Oshkosh, daughter of the late Erich and Erna Voigt Bettin. She married Ralph E. Harkner on Aug. 31, 1938, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1977.

Loretta was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. She enjoyed playing cards and crocheting. She had worked as a press operator at the former Lincoln Cleaners, Merrill.

Survivors include her daughter Diane (Michael) Storm, Merrill; daughter-in-law Vernette (Louie) Heuser, Tomahawk; granddaughter Angie (Tyler) Hameau, Merrill; great-grandchildren Jacob and Macy Hameau; and brother Reuben (Rachel) Bettin, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her son Daniel in 1973.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 11, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
