In his early years, Jerry enjoyed playing baseball, especially in the Lincoln County and Merrill City Softball leagues. He also liked to bowl, and was inducted into the Merrill Bowling Hall of Fame in 1995. He loved the outdoors and outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and golf. Until the last several years, he rarely missed a Merrill High School basketball game, boys or girls. In retirement, he also assisted with the Activities Departments at the Merrill Senior Center, and at Bell Tower Residence with their woodcraft projects.

Survivors include his wife Judith (Erickson) Wery, Merrill; sister Gloria (Fred) Hildebrand, Wausau; his mother in law, Ellen Erickson, Merrill; sisters in law, Sally (George) Svihla, Austin, Tex.; and Ingrid Erickson, Detroit, Mich.; his special aunt Josephine Heckendorf, Tomahawk; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral was Tuesday, Sept. 19, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services, the Merrill Senior Center, or to the memorial of your choice.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Rezazadeh and the nurses and staff at the Aspirus UW Cancer Center for their loving care and friendship over the past several years, and also to the staff of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services, especially Barb Dalland, R.N., Kristina, and Mark.
