Darlene Hehling

Darlene "Ma" Hehling, 80, of Merrill, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at her residence.

Born in Wausau on Nov. 17, 1926, Darlene was the daughter of the late Carl and Amelia Steidinger Weinkauf. She married John Hehling Jr. in Merrill. He died on Nov. 2, 1963.

Darlene worked for the Badger Hotel, Hinz's Cork and Dyne, Eddy's Bakery and Weinbrenner Shoe Company, where she retired in 1990. She then did housekeeping. Darlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she helped with special events. She enjoyed taking care of her children's dogs and doing yardwork. Darlene also enjoyed the company of her neighbors, friends and family.

Survivors include her daughter Betty Hehling, Merrill; sons Robert J. and Bill (Lisa M.), both of Merrill; grandchildren Matthew J. Heisler, Mindy M. Heisler and Katie E. Heisler; brother Earl (Nancy) Weinkauf, Littleton, Colo.; and sisters Elmira (Duane) Larson, Denver, Colo.; and Alberta Saeger, Owen.

She was preceded in death by her husband John and brother Ewald.

Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm and Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening, Feb. 22, 4-8 p.m. at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to the hour of services at the church.
