SFC Michael M.J. Hebert

SFC Michael M.J. Hebert, 42, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, May 12, 2006, in Temple, Texas, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Michael was born Jan. 31, 1964, in Fond du Lac, son of the late Maynard I. and Marjory J. Lyons Hebert. On June 22, 1989, he married Renate Herrmann in Denmark.

Michael was a 21-year veteran of the US Army and was currently serving at Fort Hood, Texas. He entered the service in November of 1985. From December 1990 to December 1991 he served in Korea, from November 2000 to May 2001 he served in Kosovo, and from April to December 2003 he was stationed in Iraq. Among his citations are the Bronze Star w/V device, the Purple Heart, and several Army Commendation awards. Mike was an avid Packer fan no matter where he was stationed, and loved playing pool. He was a loving husband and caring father. Even though he received many awards for valor and service, his greatest accomplishments were his two children. He was a graduate of Merrill High School, and was listed in the “Who’s Who” in Wisconsin High School Students.

Surviving are his wife Renate, a daughter Christine and son Michael M.J. II, both at home; brothers Stephen (special friend Tammy Marino), Fond du Lac; David, Redgranite; and Maynard II (Debbie) and T.J. (fiance Wendy Schaumburg), both of Fond du Lac; sister Christine (David) Lefeber, Fond du Lac; mother-in-law Ida Herrmann, Fulda, Germany; sisters-in-law Margit (Ralf) and Timo Benneman of Germany; and Karola (Brian) and Christopher Jorden of Korea; nieces and nephews Bethany and Robert Lefeber, Melissa, Beth, Christopher, Nicholas, Nathan and Brett Hebert, Troy, Justine and Jaymee, Haley and Travis Hebert, Jonathan and Brett Hebert; and step-mother Rosemary Hebert of Fond du Lac. Also surviving is a very good friend, Jessica Dudley and her family of Killeen, Texas. He was preceded in death by sister Denni Marie Hebert and nephew Nathan Hebert.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 20, at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, Fond du lac. Deacon Larry Hughes officiated. A memorial has been established in Mike’s name. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com.
