Esther Sprasky

Esther Sprasky, 95, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Esther was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Great Falls, Mont., daughter of the late Albert and Inga Arneson Torkelson. She married Wilson Imhoff on June 14, 1930. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1947. She then married Thomas Sprasky on Sept. 29, 1956, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1997.

Esther was a cook at St. Francis Convent in Milwaukee, then at the Watergate Inn in Tomahawk. She had also worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Merrill for eight years. Esther was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill, where she was involved in Mission Guild. Esther enjoyed making crafts, sewing, quilting, cooking and baking.

Survivors include her son Roger (Donna) Imhoff, her step-son Robert (Mikelene) Sprasky, and her foster daughter Peggy Blood, all of Merrill; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Stella Schoerner, Merrill; and sister-in-law Martha Torkelson, Oregon. She was preceded in death by sisters Sophie Torkelson and Mabel Oman; brothers George, Elmer and Henry; and brothers-in-law Ed Schoerner and Arnes Oman.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 23, at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, town of Rock Falls. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
