Glenn H. Oslage

Glenn H. Oslage, 69, of Merrill, formerly of Rothschild, met his Savior and entered into eternal peace on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, surrounded by his family while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Glenn was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Wausau, son of the late Henry and Esther Borchardt Oslage. In 1962 he married Lora Jean Wood at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Rothschild. She survives.

Glenn served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill for many years and then was a U.S. Postal carrier for the Rothschild Post Office until retiring in February 2000. He thoroughly enjoyed his contact with people while delivering mail, and truly could have conversation with anyone. But nothing could compare to his next position. Glenn's most valued role was that of "Grandpa Day Care." Upon retirement, he and his wife partnered as daily caregivers for their precious grandsons. Among his favorite things were spending time with his family, the outdoors, fishing, sports, playing games, riding his four-wheeler while doing yard maintenance, cuddling with the family dog Rokki, listening to Gaither gospel music and building backyard campfires.

Survivors include his wife Lora Jean, daughter Glenda Oslage, son Chad (Lynn), and grandsons Dustin and Nicholas, all of Merrill. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Carol), uncle Raymond Juedes, special extended family members including Lana (Florian) Bradfish, John (Jan) Juedes, Mary (Dennis) Berndt, Donald (Grace) Wood, Richard (Georgia) Wood, and many friends, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Robert Lang and an aunt Isabelle Juedes.

Glenn had courageously battled three different types of cancer since 1973. He was a brave example of faith and determination. He showed great support for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in the Merrill area, speaking at an opening ceremony a few years back where he shared his inspiring stories and proved survivorship. His upbeat attitude and friendly smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Merrill. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until the hour of services. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
