Arthur H. and Phyllis J. Schmidt

Arthur H. and Phyllis J. Schmidt, 710 N. Genesee St., Merrill, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 16, 2005, at the Corning Town Hall. Also attending from the original wedding party was Totsy Kleinschmidt, the matron of honor.

Arthur and the former Phyllis Kleinschmidt were married September 15, 1945, in Merrill. Besides Merrill, the couple lived in Jim Falls.

The couple has a large family, including their children Dennis (Verjean) Schmidt, Merrill; Michael (Sue) Schmidt, New Auburn; Gerald (Linda) Schmidt, Michigan City, Ind.; Karen Schmidt, Wausau; Stephen (Bonnie) Schmidt, Rothschild; Randolph (Peggi) Schmidt, Elk Mound; Thomas (Sally) Schmidt, Merrill; Richard (Roxann) Schmidt, Wausau; Polly (Jody) Malik, Tacy, Calif.; Patricia (Jeff) Reynolds, Tony; Kevin (Lisa) Schmidt, Merrill; Brenda (Steve) Lueken, Owatonna, Minn.; and Michelle (Rick) Allman, Merrill; 39 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Arthur is a retired ironworker and farmer and Phyllis is a homemaker. They are members of Christ Lutheran Church, Merrill. They both enjoy fishing, boating, furniture making, scenic drives and spending time with family.
