Violet A. “ Vi” Taylor, 78, of 714 E. Second St., Merrill, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton.

Vi was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Stanley and Laura Root Kwaterski. She married Donald D. Taylor on Dec. 6, 1947, in West Allis. He survives.

Vi had been a nurse’s assistant at the Wisconsin Veterans’ Home in King, but was primarily a homemaker, raising her family. She was a member of the WFW Auxiliary. Vi enjoyed knitting, sewing, painting, cooking, gardening, golfing, traveling and working with ceramics. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing with all her life experience and faith in Jesus Christ.

Survivors besides her husband Donald of Merrill include her daughters; Patricia Taylor, Seymour; Kathleen (Calvin) Hinz, Merrill; Laura (Roger) Smith, Pennsylvania; and Susan (Michael) Hoff, Merrill; sons Daniel, Merrill; Timothy (Debbie, Milwaukee; and William (Dercy) and Robert (Sandy), both of Merrill; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are sisters Lillian Mazurek, Oak Creek; Marge (Thomas) Malnory, Jackson; and Kathleen Beiro, Milwaukee; and brothers Joseph (Millie) Kwaterski, Milwaukee; and Gene (Mabel) Kwaterski and Eddie (Arlene) Kwaterski, both of Three Lakes.

She was preceded in death by sisters Loretta and Rosemary and brothers Frank, Jim, Raymond and Dickie.

Funeral services will be noon Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. Edward F. Powell will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
